What does a Lead Teller do?

A Lead Teller is responsible for managing a team of Tellers and providing leadership and guidance to ensure that quality service is provided to customers. The Lead Teller also ensures that all transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Lead Teller job duties include:
- Greeting customers and providing them with prompt, professional service
- Assisting customers with their banking needs such as deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments
- Answering customer questions and providing account information
- Processing customer transactions quickly and accurately
- Balancing cash drawer at the end of each shift
- Following all bank policies and procedures
- Maintaining a high level of confidentiality with customer information
- Recognizing sales opportunities and referring customers to appropriate bank staff
- Providing excellent customer service at all times
- Completing other duties as assigned
Lead Teller Job Requirements
A Lead Teller is a bank teller who has been with the company for a significant amount of time and has been promoted to a leadership position. As a Lead Teller, you will be responsible for training new tellers, helping customers with their banking needs, and ensuring that the teller line is running smoothly. To be a Lead Teller, you will need at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Some banks may require you to have an Associate's degree in business or a related field. You will also need several years of experience as a teller.

How to become a Lead Teller
In order to become a Lead Teller, one must first become a Teller. A Teller is responsible for providing excellent customer service while performing various transactions including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments. A Lead Teller is responsible for all of the same duties as a Teller, but also takes on additional responsibilities such as training new Tellers and providing input to the Branch Manager on staffing needs. In order to be successful in this role, one must have excellent customer service skills, be able to work well under pressure, and have previous experience working in a bank or financial institution.
