What does a Fleet Mechanic do?

A fleet mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing a company's fleet of vehicles. This can include cars, trucks, vans, buses, and other types of vehicles. The mechanic will perform routine maintenance and repairs, as well as troubleshoot and diagnose problems.
Fleet Mechanic job duties include:
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical problems and repair vehicles
- Perform scheduled maintenance service
- Repair or replace worn parts, such as brake pads and wheel bearings
- Adjust and reline brakes

- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on vehicles
