What does an Executive Steward do?

An executive steward is responsible for managing the food and beverage operations of a large organization. They oversee the work of the kitchen staff, waitstaff, and bartenders, and ensure that all guests are satisfied with their experience. They also develop menus, order supplies, and manage finances.
Executive Steward job duties include:
- Develops and implements policies, systems and procedures for the food and beverage operation
- Oversees the daily operations of the food and beverage department
- Directs and coordinates the activities of all food and beverage personnel
- Develops menus and wine lists in conjunction with the Executive Chef
- Selects, develops and trains food and beverage staff
- Ensures that all food and beverage staff are properly groomed and dressed according to established standards
- Ensures that all food and beverage areas are clean, well maintained and properly stocked
- Investigates complaints regarding food quality or service
- Prepares periodic reports on food and beverage operations
Executive Steward Job Requirements
An Executive Steward is responsible for managing and supervising the food and beverage operations of a large organization. They must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in hospitality or business management, as well as experience working in a food and beverage management role. In addition, they must be certified by the National Restaurant Association as a Certified Food Service Executive.

How to become an Executive Steward
In order to become an Executive Steward, one must first be a certified professional chef. Then, they must complete a two-year apprenticeship under the guidance of an Executive Steward. After completing the apprenticeship, they will be able to take the final exam to become an Executive Steward.
