An educational assistant helps teachers in the classroom by working with students one-on-one or in small groups. They help create lesson plans, prepare materials, and grade papers. They also may supervise recess and lunch periods.

- Monitor hallways, cafeteria, and playground during assigned times

Educational Assistant Job Requirements
An Educational Assistant is someone who works under the supervision of a teacher in order to provide support to students. In order to be an Educational Assistant, one must have at least a high school diploma. Some states also require certification in order to work as an Educational Assistant. Many Educational Assistants have experience working with children in some capacity, whether it be through previous jobs, volunteering, or personal experience.

How to become an Educational Assistant
There are many ways to become an Educational Assistant. The most common way is to complete a certified educational assistant program at a community college. Many school districts also require that you have experience working with children in a school setting. Some school districts may require you to pass a criminal background check and/or drug test. Once you have completed the necessary training and requirements, you can apply for open educational assistant positions in your area.
