How to become an Audit Manager
Audit managers are responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of an organization’s internal audit function. They ensure that the organization’s financial statements are free from material misstatement and that its internal controls are adequate to protect its assets. Audit managers also develop and implement risk-based audit plans that focus on the areas of greatest risk to the organization.
To become an audit manager, you will need to have at least five years of experience working in auditing, accounting, or a related field. You will also need to have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. In addition, you must be able to effectively communicate with people at all levels of an organization.
If you are interested in becoming an audit manager, you should consider pursuing a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. To become a CPA, you will need to pass the Uniform CPA Examination, which is administered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). In addition, you will need to meet your state’s education and experience requirements.
