- Plan, direct, or coordinate activities related to food and nutrition programs in hospitals, cafeterias, nursing homes, schools, and similar organizations
- Oversee meal planning and preparation according to established guidelines, regulations, and policies
- Inspect meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and sanitation standards
- Investigate complaints related to food service
- Confer with dietitians and other health care personnel to plan menus
- Estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and control food preparation budgets
- Select menus in consultation with patients and dietitians
- Order or procure food supplies and equipment
- Train new employees in food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety procedures

How to become a Nutrition Manager
