A microwave engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing microwave equipment. They work with microwaves that have frequencies ranging from 300 MHz to 300 GHz. Microwave engineers must have a strong understanding of electromagnetic theory in order to design and develop effective equipment.

How to become a Microwave Engineer

There are many microwave engineers in the world, but becoming one requires a great deal of dedication and hard work. First and foremost, you must obtain a degree in engineering from an accredited institution. Once you have your degree, you must then pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. After passing the FE exam, you must gain four years of professional engineering experience. Once you have gained your four years of experience, you must then take and pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam. Finally, after passing the PE exam, you will be licensed as a professional engineer and can officially call yourself a microwave engineer.
