What does a Junior Architect do?

A Junior Architect is responsible for assisting in the design and development of architectural projects. They may also be involved in the construction process, providing support to the Senior Architects and project managers.
Junior Architect job duties include:
- Analyze client’s needs and develop architectural proposals that address those needs
- Prepare project proposals, including fee estimates, timelines, and project specifications
- Conduct feasibility studies and site analysis to support project development
- Prepare construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and other professionals to ensure the accuracy of project plans
- Inspect construction sites to monitor progress and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
- Provide technical assistance to clients during construction
- Develop long-term relationships with clients to secure repeat business
- Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and best practices
Junior Architect Job Requirements
A Junior Architect is usually someone who has completed their undergraduate degree in architecture and is working towards their licensure. Many firms will require that a Junior Architect have at least 1-3 years of experience working in an architectural office before they are hired. Some firms may also require that a Junior Architect have completed their Master’s degree in architecture. In order to become licensed, a Junior Architect must complete the Architectural Registration Exam.

How to become a Junior Architect
