The first step to becoming a claims adjuster is to obtain the necessary education. Many claims adjusters have at least a bachelor’s degree, although some companies may require a master’s degree. Claims adjusters need to have strong communication and writing skills, as well as analytical skills. They also need to be familiar with the insurance industry and how policies work.
Once you have the necessary education, you will need to obtain a license from your state’s insurance department. Once you are licensed, you will be able to work for an insurance company or an independent adjusting firm.
