What does an Accounting Instructor do?

An accounting instructor typically teaches courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, and auditing at the college level. He or she may also teach tax accounting and other specialized courses. The instructor is responsible for preparing lesson plans, delivering lectures, leading classroom discussions, and grading student assignments.

Most accounting instructors have a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, as well as teaching experience. Many colleges and universities also require their accounting instructors to be certified public accountants (CPAs).
