- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues
- Perform capacity planning to ensure the network can accommodate future growth

- Collaborate with other teams to ensure smooth integration of new hardware or software into the existing network
- Prepare documentation explaining the current network configuration and design
Network Designer Job Requirements
A network designer typically has a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field. They may also have certification from companies such as Cisco, Microsoft, or Juniper. Network designers typically have 5-10 years of experience designing and managing networks.
Network Designer Skills
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of Cisco IOS, NX-OS and other network operating systems
- Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers
- Ability to design and implement highly available, scalable and secure network architectures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proven track record of successful project delivery
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- CCNP or other professional certification is a plus
