A Java Application Developer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and deployment of Java-based applications. They work closely with other developers, business analysts, and project managers to create high-quality software that meets the needs of the business. In addition to their technical skills, Java Application Developers must have strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Java Application Developer job duties include:
- Actively participate in the software development cycle including the development of high-quality and stable software based on customer, business, and technical requirements.
- Engage with the development team in active problem solving to identify technical roadblocks and recommend solutions that can improve the direction of our technology stack.
- Help define, document, and communicate technical specifications for new features and functionality to be built by the development team.
- Write code (primarily in Java) to implement new features and functionality as well as maintain and improve existing codebases.
- Perform unit testing of code changes to ensure quality and stability of software before release.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving production issues reported by customers.
- Keep abreast of new trends and technologies in the software development industry and evaluate their potential applicability to our products and architecture.
- Act as a mentor and coach to less experienced developers on the team.
- Participate in regular team meetings and stand-ups to provide updates on progress, blockers, etc.
Java Application Developer Job Requirements
A Java Application Developer should have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. They should also have experience in developing Java applications and be familiar with the Java platform. Certification is not required, but it may give the developer an advantage when applying for jobs.
