What does a Diver do?

A diver is a person who jumps or dives into water from a platform or springboard, usually as a form of recreation or competition.
Diver job duties include:
- Inspects equipment for damage or defects before each use.
- Checks the dive site for hazards and safe entry and exit points.
- Enters the water to check its depth, temperature, and clarity.
- Gives hand signals or uses a line to communicate with the diving partner.

- Retrieves objects or assists persons as needed.
- Signals to the diving partner when ready to ascend.
- Follows the ascent rate and safety procedures to avoid decompression sickness.
- Exits the water and removes diving gear.
Diver Job Requirements
There are many different types of diving jobs, from commercial to scientific to military, so the requirements for each job will vary. In general, however, most divers will need at least a high school diploma or equivalent, and many jobs will require some type of certification, such as First Aid and CPR.
