A rehabilitation technician helps people with physical disabilities regain their independence. They work with patients to develop individualized treatment plans and provide instruction on how to use adaptive equipment. They may also help patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing and dressing.

Rehabilitation Technician Job Requirements
There are no formal education requirements for rehabilitation technicians, although many have at least a high school diploma. Some states require certification, which can be obtained through professional organizations such as the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy or the American Physical Therapy Association. Experience is not required, but most employers prefer candidates with some experience working with patients in a healthcare setting.

How to become a Rehabilitation Technician
There are many ways to become a Rehabilitation Technician. One can either earn a certificate, diploma, or degree from an accredited institution, or one can complete on-the-job training. The most common way to become a Rehabilitation Technician is to complete an accredited program at a community college, technical school, or university. Many programs can be completed in as little as two years.
Once you have completed an accredited program, you will need to pass a state-recognized exam in order to earn your license. Once you have your license, you will be able to find employment at hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other health care facilities. With experience, you may eventually become a Rehabilitation Technician Supervisor or Manager.
