Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Requirements
Most heavy equipment mechanics have a high school diploma or equivalent, although some jobs may require postsecondary education, and most mechanics receive on-the-job training. Many community colleges offer programs in diesel engine technology, which can be helpful for those interested in becoming a heavy equipment mechanic. Some employers may require certification from a professional organization, such as the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). ASE offers several certification exams for heavy equipment mechanics, including tests for specific types of equipment, such as agricultural or construction equipment. How to become a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
