Your resume provides an opportunity for someone to see what you’re all about and see if they’re interested in hearing from you. The following are some tips for Airline Pilots to make use of resume examples and tips for how to write successful resumes.

The basics of resume examples

First and foremost, to ensure you’re describing the job you do well. The best resume examples will have a clear emphasis on your work experience. You must be able to show that you are a hard worker who has honed skills necessary to succeed in whatever job you're applying for.

A resume example should also include a summary of your qualifications, indicating how relevant those qualifications are to the position you’re applying for. Your resume example should highlight your past achievements so that recruiters can easily see how successful you are at what you do now.

Tips for resume examples

I currently work at a major airline as an Executive Pilot. My primary responsibilities are:

  • Cabin Operations – The actual working of the aircraft (e.g., routing, getting passengers on board and off, flying crews)
  • Flight Monitoring – Checking flight status while in the air and reporting any deviations to senior management; reporting on any threats to safety (e.g., engine failures, abnormal situations)
  • Cockpit Management – Managing all aspects of flight operations in a safe manner; overseeing crew duties and making sure all procedures are carried out correctly (e.g., monitoring weather and reporting any changes)
  • Safety Matters - A lot of things that could go wrong in our industry can be very dangerous. For instance, if there is an accident with our aircraft, we need to make sure that everyone involved has been properly trained before flying again or that we have adopted appropriate precautionary measures when flying in certain areas

How to make your resume interesting

Here are tips for how to make your resume interesting and easy to read. This is a great strategy for any type of resume or cover letter:

  1. Make sure you have your audience in mind. Don't leave out important details that might be the difference between a job offer and nothing at all! Think about what your job will entail, what skills you need, and what you bring to the table.
  2. Use professional imagery. If you're applying for a job that requires professional photography, take advantage of this opportunity! Your resume should be inviting and let potential employers know that they can expect quality work from you. A photographer can create pictures that show a specific style of work or aerial shots of an area where the company's facilities are located. Professional photographers can use their skills to capture photos that showcase your talents and turn them into more useful information than just a picture on your resume!

Use words and phrases that people will want to read

Include words and phrases that are specific to your industry, such as "Airline Pilot," "Pilot," or "Airline Transport." This is important because people will be able to tell quickly whether you're qualified for the job without even reading your resume.

For example, if a recruiter were to read your resume and see that you have experience in the following industries: -- Food & Beverage (e.g., restaurant server, food service manager) -- Warehousing/Logistics (e.g., warehouse manager) -- Travel & Tourism (e.g., travel agent) -- Hotel/Motel/Hot Springs (e.g., hotel manager)

Make sure your resume is Schematic

Your resume should be as simple as possible. This means your resume should have no complex formatting, and it should be clear enough to help you stand out from other applicants. You can use a template where you fill in the information on your resume and then save the document.

Use fonts that are legible

First of all, the way your resume is written determines how it will be read. Try to avoid using too many fonts as it will make it difficult for people to read your resume. Shouldn't be a big deal, but there are cases where you may need to use more than one font.

If you're writing in a small font and can’t find a space for the word “Airline Pilot”, try adding two words: Airline Pilot.

If you're writing in a medium-sized font and can't find enough space for your name, try adding two words: Airline Pilot or Airlines.

End with a phrase that makes everyone stop and take note

Once you have your resume, it's time to make sure that it ends with something that catches everyone's attention. Make sure that the last sentence of your resume is something people will be able to remember and link back to. This is where a key phrase can be used.

A good example would be “Resume Example” or “Example Resume”. You might think, “What exactly does this mean?” The common misconception is that the term means a resume like the one in this book. While there are some similarities between a resume and a job application, there are really two different things here: A great resume example should capture people's attention and provide them with detailed information on what it is you do for a living, how you do it and why they should consider hiring you for their company.
